Hello, my stocking is 7 White cloud mountain minnows, 1 giant huge apple snail, 1 other snail im not sure about, only tiny about 2 cm long.

My query is, there are some eggs, or what i think are eggs on the underside of a few leaves, they are suspended in jelly and look to have little green dots in, but i suspect this is just reflection from the leaves. The clutches of eggs are around 4 or 5 cm long.

Yesterday i came home from the weekends away to find my first ever baby white cloud, but i can't find it today...i guess it's dead.

Anyway, i'd normally believe it to be that other snail laying eggs, but it's only tiny, and with the recent discovery of my white cloud baby...i'm not sure what to think.

What do you guys think?

EDIT: i also have 1 amano and 1 'ghost shrimp'

Snails when born are super small and they tend to hide in the gravel a lot. Once in a while they venture out. They also like to hang out in a bunch of leaves/flowers and in dark places. I hope your minnow didn’t die but keep your hopes up because they really hide very well. They even hide under rocks.

My minnow was alive last night.Havn't seen it yet today but the lights only went on at 12 so there's still time.
And some brine shrimp eggs arrived today so if he's alive he should eat well!

I think the eggs are snails. So soon i should have hundreds.

They're underestimated because there's so many of them, but i think they're brilliant too.Just wish i could get them breeding more!Hah.

The eggs went down a treat.

Tip for anyone- be carefull how many you put in.Like..a teaspoon of water with eggs in is waaay too much!

the jelly filled sacs are snail eggs. The snails will eat the white cloud eggs. If you want to breed white clouds in any number then remove most of the snails.

The brineshrimp eggs can be hatched out in seawater and the nauplii (baby shrimp) can be fed to the baby and adult whiteclouds.

Ah damn.I thought the snails would live happily with them.

I just saw one of my ghost shrimp attempt an assault on a baby snail haha.It failed.

I've removed the eggs now.
I still have a huge apple snail though.Which will probably eat any eggs like you say.But without it i have lots of algae problems!

one apple snail won't eat that many eggs. However the jelly bundles can contain up to 100 or more snails. Once they hatch you will have a hoard of little molluscs looking for food.

I've removed the two little jelly sacks i have seen. And the parent that layed them. I'm relying on my fish to eat the small baby ones...which they have done in the past, when i didn't want them to :D

This apple snail is like..2 inch..i hope you're right.

I need to find a way to cool my tank now.The heater is set to 18 yet the temperature is mid 20's i think partially due to the lights.

white clouds can tolerate warm water but they age quicker compared to cooler water. They actually breed when the water warms up so you might be able to get lots of eggs from them while it's warmer.
If you really want to cool the tank you can buy chiller units from your LFS. They are normally used on marine tanks but are expensive.

If you make sure there is plenty of algae in the tank then the apple snail should feed on that. You can also offer pieces of pumpkin or zuchini for it to eat.

Ah don't worry there's no shortage of algae :p

I was always of the belief that the way to breed them was keep them at a cool temperature...then raise it for a few days. I can't remember where i read that though. But i'm aware like you said that they can live at higher temperatures, which is why i'm not too worried.

Thanks for the advice!

You are right about the way they normally breed. They start when the water warms up after it has been cold for a while. Goldfish are the same. Keep them cold for a month, then raise the temp a couple of degrees and within a week they will be chucking out eggs everywhere.
