Hi, I will start with the disclaimer that I know very little about fish. I have a 6' tank with 2 angels, 2 discus, 3 tetras & 1 black ghost knife fish. A few days ago I noticed several balls in the bottom of the tank which were probably 5mm in diameter, they had white centers, some a kind of oblong shape & were surrounded in a clear membrane about 2mm. At the time I thought they were eggs & I would find out what they were when they hatched but one of the discus appears to have eaten them. We did move the tank 3 weeks before I saw them, have I maybe done something wrong & they were some kind of mould (that's the other thing it looked like to me), unfortunatley I can't attach a photo as they are all gone now, but if it was eggs I would like to find out what to do next time.

It sonds like they may have been eggs, but probably not mold. How many were there? Fish usually lay eggs in large numbers, which would cover the cichlids and probably the tetras :)
