hi,i have a malawi tank that has been up and running for 2 months.i have added 3 immature jewel cichlids approx 2 - 3" long about 2 weeks ago.would the eggs on the glass be the jewels eggs?????only have a baby syno approx 3" long and approx 20 others malawi's/tanganyikans.please help.never had babys to deal with.how long before they hatch???

Are there any snails in the tank?

Malawis and Jewels together? Any have any experience with that particular combination? Doesn't sound like the best of ideas, given what I know...

I don't believe any of those fish would lay eggs on the glass. Snails also spring to my mind. :/
The jewels can be very aggressive as adults. You don't say what species of malawi/tanganyikans you have. Most would not recommend mixing the fish from different lakes either as size and aggressiveness comes into play along with differing needs.
What size tank is it? And what type of syno? Some synos prefer the company of other synos.
Hugs,
P.

all the fish in my tank are looked after like babies and if any major fighting broke out then i would remove the culprits immediately.my boss fish is a large red zebra and wont tolerate any other fish being too over boisterus.the eggs may be snails but i've never had plants in the tank in at least 3 months and the jewels are gaurding these eggs on the glass 24/7.my syno is a eupterus.i would prefer bristlenoses really but cant find any locally and people have said they can be a bit funny if it's not a pair.ps tank is a jewel rio 240 with the original filter plus a eheim 2028 external.black sand and approx 50 kilo's of ocean rock.
