Hi, just cleaned my tank and found some eggs on the nestled on the filter sponge! I have some rainbows and some Green tiger barbs, so im not sure who the parents are. Can anyone shed any light on this, the eggs are white in appearence.

Tanks :good:

My best guess would be your Tiger Barbs, because Rainbows are a bit picky when they breed. They normally breed when they are the only species in the tank. They usually lay many, many eggs (200+), but will eat some. Are the eggs sort of yellowish? Normally there eggs are.

If they're white they're most likely snail eggs or unfertilized eggs. They would have a yellowish or orange tint if they were truly fertilized healthy eggs. They'll make a tasty snack for your fish but that's about it.
