Eggs And Fights

So I have 1 female GBR cichlid in my tank she was fine with my female bettas till yesterday at first I thought she was trying to take control till today I tried sticking my hands into the tank and reaching under one of my decorations and she started attacking my hand.. so any ideas how to deal with this egg laying psychopath since she is in a area I can't just get a net under and she wont come out of said area without a fight?

When a cichlid is protecting eggs, they are very territorial as you have found. Is there a male in there, if not the eggs will fail and hopefully peace will return untill she lays again. I've had to move my male from the 4ft as he was bullying the others. So he and albert are in tanks of their own at the moment untill the females I have are large enough to introduce them. Mind you this is not guarenteed of success.

Ahh if the eggs produce a couple of healthy GBR's ill take a pair of your hands

I have no males in the tank it is pretty much a all female tank with maybe the exception of some of the corys

The fish will lay eggs even without a male around?

Apparently, there is no other reasoning and sadly I finally got a good look at where she is protecting and there are some clear spheres in there that aren't sand/fine gravel.
