Egeria Densa

just cut the stems and they will throw shoots off into the substrate, once it gets gowing it'll grow like mad!

doesnt really matter what you do to it. its a weed! when i shoved some in my 4x2x2 to absorb some of the excess nutrients and crap that was leaching from the silicone and substrate etc, it was growing an inch a day.

did you ever get it to flower, Nick?

I have seen it in flower in a outside pond, but never in an aquarium.

it didnt as it was only in there for about 3-4 days wrapped in lead.

it probably would have if i had planted it properly. i had to removed it because the roots got to about 60cm long. when pulling it out half the substrate came with it!

It needs colder water to flower. It flowered for me in the Winter in an outside tub in Miami. Water was in the mid to lower 60s. You would probably need a chiller, or a really cold house for it to flower inside. Lovely flower, though. The plant also looks quite different, very dark green with longer leaves. Very beautiful.

tis a shame that we'd struggle to get it to flower in an aquarium. To be fair i'm not over keen on the plant myself, it looks great outside, but soon takes over as it does in an aquarium.

my tank was at 20 degrees C so i cant have been far off. when it was in the tank i had no livestock as the tank was cycling.
perhaps if i had knocked it down to 18C i might have got some flowers and saved myself some leccy!

typical.
