Hello everybody,

I thought I'd start a thread to make everybody up there in the cold, cold North really mad at me and hate me forever. As everybody knows, it's Winter in Miami, FL. Right now, we have a front coming through, so we're experiencing a cold snap. Temperatures all the way down to the 60s! :kana: Usually, it's in the late 70s. Well anyhoo, my mom purchased this little resin ornamental tub/fountain/thing years ago, and it became an algae ridden mess. So about 2 months ago, I cleaned it up, got the pump working again, and have been steadily chucking my cuttings of Brazilian pennywort, Christmas moss, A. reineckii, and Egeria densa and saying "You're on your own!" The tub holds about 8-10g. Well, the Egeria densa has grown quite a bit, as has the moss, and the other plants aren't dead. I continuously add cuttings, may consider adding snails, and possibly installing a small internal filter. Here's what it looks like.

Egeria densa flowers, pretty cool huh? I've never seen it flower before, but I keep mine in aquariums that are too warm and Egeria densa is a colder water plant. It has really taken off in this tub. I will probably have to move it inside during the summer.

What started as an experiment has actually worked out quite well. I now have a place to store my cuttings and most plants that I grow do well in that enviroment, so people swapping with me should still get good stuff and my tanks aren't overun with plants. Thanks for reading. Don't critique my scape, there is no scape!

llj :)

ha ha cool, and nicely offset by the non aquarium plant, commonly sold as one, on the edge of the tub! :good:

Plum forgot about those! Yeah, we have several bushes that we trimmed a while back and we stuck the cuttings in the tub to encourage root growth. They're ready for planting now.

Well for something you just leave to get on with it, some nice looking growth there Llj :) and the egeria flowers are cool.
