Today I saw a snowflake eel part of the moray family and I wanted to get one but I learned how there able to escape from tanks easily. I just need some help on what do I need to get to keep my eel in the tank and not on the floor. Any ideas suggested. I don't mind doing DIY projects. Also the cover for the top of the tank must not be able to be melted for i have medal helldite bulbs

well, you can just get a piece of arcrylic cut to fit the tank and drill small holes in it. I would also buy some clamps to keep the top down. also, you can suspend the metal halide over the tank. just curious are you planniig a reef tank with a moray?

i've had my tank for 4 years and it's already reef. The guy at the store said that eels can live in reefs because the LR provides shelter for the eel.

The problem is more that snowflake morays feed on inverts in the wild, so expect any ornamental shrimp to be eaten at some point along the way and I wouldn't be surprised to see a reduction in hermits over time as well.

Agreed... I personally favour the piscivorous morays for reef setups. Invert eating ones are best for tanks in which small fish are to be kept, but they will eat true crabs and non-cleaner shrimp, and hermits and cleaners will be had if the moray gets too hungry.

Good news i got my eel i have some pics of it posted in the pic forum. =)
