I have a 48 x 13 tank and Im wondering how much eco-complete i should use so i can plant heavily ? I already purchased one 20 lb bag and Im now starting to wonder if its enough? I plan on mixing it with natural pebble gravel........

Manny :shifty:

That's a very helpful link for someone who is only going to use Eco-complete, I already mixed mine with natural looking pebbles that are a little less than 1/2" long. I have one 20Lb bag of Eco-complete and 40 Lb of pebble gravel, should I remove some gravel and add more Eco-complete so my plants can grow healthy or am I over thinking this one??

The more eco complete you add, the better. Add just enough pea gravel to create the depth you want.
Hi
I have an Aquaone 510 which I will be using Eco Complete in, topped with sand as I will be having Corys.
I'm not going to put the EC near the edges as I will not be planting there, but wonder how deep I should put the EC?
2 of my other tanks are sand but I'm hoping to have better planting in this one.
I have one bag of EC but as I'm sure I wont use all of it [having used the calculator] how would be the best way to store it before perhaps adding it to another setup.

Thanks
Lynda

1.5-2" of EC will be enough, then 1" of sand.

You can just store the substrate in the bag, it wont be affected.

Hi
Just anther couple of questions....for now.....I am expecting a delivery of plants in the next day or two, [from The Green Machine] so
a} would it be OK to put the EC in the tank now to let it settle?
b} should I add the sand before planting?
c} should I add water before planting?

I'm not planning on adding fish for a few weeks, to allow the media pH etc to stabilize, so will be running the trickle filter and then adding a matured Aquaball.
My other 3 tanks are great but I want this one to be really great
Lynda

a) Yes
b) Yes - add all substrates first
c) It is easier to "dry" plant as you can get the plants closer together/ in a better position than i f the tank was full, just keep a spray mister on hand to keep the plants moist.
