Hello i have the eclipse 2 hood on a 20 gallon tank. There is 30watts of light with this hood. Is there replacemnt bulbs i can get to meet the 2-5 watts per gallon recommended? Also my friend said that i shouldnt get a 30g tall bc there isnt much surface area. Is it true the more surface area the better? and one last thing is that eclipse filter a good quality filter?

Yes, it's true that more surface area is better than less surface area. More surface area allows for more gas exchange and is better especially if you keep more fish rather than fewer fish.

I have heard that the filter is good quality, though I have heard mixed reviews about the Eclipse Hood as a whole.

I don't know for certain, but am fairly sure that there would be replacement lights to meet nearly any requirments.
