I went out and bought a new bio wheel today and it doesnt spin at all, and please dont quote me that it doesnt matter how fast it turns, as long as it turns, it is not moving at all!Does any one know if there is a "breakin" procedure to go through,or will it eventually expand, with the evaporation of water, my old one is spinning like a champ, but i was stupid when I bought the aquarium,I took the biowheel apart, cleaned it GASP and put it back together, also, I am using under gravel filtration, i just bought a new air pump and am wondering if there is such a thing as too much bubbles???? I also just went and bought an air stone and put it under the gravel but on top of the filter screen, will this affect the ugf?? Thanks for the time!!

ps,, any thing i can feed my fish as kind of a treat?? seems like it must be boring to be getting the same old food all the time!!

One thing to check would be your water flow, make sure there is enough water contacting the bio wheel to push it. But you said you old one was working fine so thats strange. Turn the filter off and see if it is hitting on something somewhere, or even just make sure that the 2 bio wheels you have (old and new) are EXACTLY the same, maybee you picked up the wrong one and the diameter is bigger and it hits something. But just as a side note, unless you break a bio wheel or something you should never have to replace them...how come you are replacing it? Make sure the little inserts...dont know how to describe them...the little things that slide in the slots on either side of the bio wheel that it actually rests on...if those are missing then it will not sit as high and usually have a problem turning.

Hope something in there helps!

it's just not in all the way ... that happened to me too. jiggle til it slips into place.

that happened to me. . . i did a water change and changed the filter cartridge, and the biowheel started turning again!
