Ok, why is my ech not green? Is it too much light? Too little light

It started off in my 30 gallon tank, which had about 2WPG, maybe a bit less. This is when it went red/brown

It has now been moved to my 70 gallon, and has started growing nicely again... but still red/brown in colour. The lighting in this tank is not as light as high - a bit less than 1.5 WPG.

It is growing well, it is just that I would much prefer it if it were green....

Many of the Echinodorus species produce red leaves rather than green, is just depends on the species. If you've got it in a planted tank and its getting all the right light, ferts, CO, ect its probably red as thats what its meant to be, if you see what I mean. If you want a green one then you may have to repace it for a green species.

Do you know what species it is?

It was simply sold to me as ech tenellus....

If I remember correctly, it was all green when I got it.

I,ve noticed the stuff in my low tech planted tank, is red/brown, where as in my high tech its more green.
They both came from the same plant i bought a while back

Mine was green from Tropica, and its now a redish green and thats what its supose to look like as far as im aware.

Well, suppose I can live with it.... its not unattractive, just not what I was expecting :)

One more question about ech tenellus though... if it is getting the correct amount of light will the leaves bend over?

I suppose what I mean is, if it is not getting enough light, will it tend to grow more upright?

Mine is currently looking like little fountains with the leaves curling right back down (does that make sense?)
