Why don't you do a advanced search on Ebay to see if anyone (selling fihs) is located X amount of miles from where you live ? :)

Oh  just did a quick check, and there is one person selling "Red Bellied Piranhas" within 50 miles of Johnstone. So no good I'm afraid.

Those pooor fish :fish: :-(. I just couldn't imagine what their life would be like on a flight or a ride in a box if they were shipped. POOOOOOOOR FISH. :-(

 how do you think fish get to your lfs ? Of course they are all shipped - the vast majority by air.

Not fish, because they can be shipped! But you cant ship a cat or dog for example!

Definitely fine in the UK for fish, inverts etc. - and I'm pretty sure in the US is fine now too. There's a bit of a grey area in the US about it, but yes I believe you can do it with fish and such like. Not cats, dogs etc.

You can ship a dog or cat. People do it all the time you just can't do it through the postal service. People ship them from airport to airport. Actually a lot of fish are shipped that way and just picked up at the airport instead of being shipped through the post.

News to me. And it's strictly against eBay rules:

eBay generally does not allow the listing of live animals or pets on eBay.......eBay allows sales of tropical fish and domestic (i.e. not exotic) aquatic snails, provided the seller has the proper Federal (APHIS PPQ) - see Form 526 info below) and/or State permit(s) that allows for movement across State lines (and/or for importation into the U. S.), and provided that the seller guarantees in the listing that the animals will be packaged safely, and shipped via next day delivery.

I didn't mean ebay I just meant in general you can ship dogs and cats by plane. I really don't see the difference between shipping fish and shipping other animals. It seems like a bias against fish basically saying they are not animals or pets and just decorations or objects. I don't see why you couldn't buy a dog or cat on eBay, no different than buying from a private breeder (probably cheaper actually).

Yes I know breeders ship cats, dogs etc. across countries all the time (I've done it myself).
But this topic referred to eBay, so thought that's what you were referring to.

I was just saying that there is no difference except that they are prejudiced against fish and don't consider them animals.

Has anyone on here bought fish off ebay? How did it come out? Just wondering about it in comparison to other auction sites.
