Beautiful

What do you guys and girls think

Looks good, lovely pics! :D

that's some nice cichlids.....BTW is that Hap Ahli on the second pic and on your sig??? I've never seen them with the bright red coloration on the tail before....

 Superb!!

Can we have a fish list please?? Spotted the Hap Ahli and Hap Venustus already but would like to know what else you got in there!!

steve

 The fact is that I am the newbie and you guys can make the identification.

I told the local lfs to get me the best collection for X amount and then came up with these.

I will add a more comprehensive range of photos

the actual tank size 1200 * 600 high * 500 wide.

The total spec was listed on a earlier post when we had problems with the water.

Its fine now and can these fish dig

The fish will dig
And I will say thats not a mix i would recomend to someone it's usually best to keep the mbuna and haps seperate though yours are the of the agresive utaka types, my nimbochromis venustus died in my mbuna tank and maylandia lombardoi kennyi are very agresive, in a large tank it should work at least 125 but i dunno
EDITED- Nimbochromis venustus need at least 100 gallons or 125 gallons I think you have a 77
anyways it does look great

:hyper:

Thanks The only casualties so far been the little red peacocks I had five but can only find two.

I have increased the caves for the smaller fish to hide

I lost a red zebra got trapped between the gravel and a rock was still alive but, just.

I have not notice any excessive aggression.

If the fish are well fed it removes this need to chase the others.

G Sharky,
the blue with the bright red coloring (named Roi) is a nimbochromis fuscotaeniatus, I think

this might be a Hap Ahli , (Sciaenochromis ahli)
they're both at least 4" body length

or maybe not!!
I've just done more species research and have to edit my post!!

maybe it's one of the Haplochromines Sciaenochromis fryeri species; Chewere? Likoma Is.?

on http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=1337 the following is stated:
Profiles - Malawi Haplochromines - Sciaenochromis ahli is very uncommon in the aquarium hobby and has only recently been exported in small numbers. It should not be confused with S. fryeri - the electric blue hap - who has a much more striking dress.

and on http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/species.php?id=1324
S. fryeri, (not to be confused with S. ahli which is not a glamorous or even easily acquired fish) is a staple fish in the hobby.
