Fish Crazy
I've just upgraded my coldwater tank to a Fluval Duo Deep 1000, approximately 180 litres and home to a pair of very large fantail goldfish. At the moment it's bare except for gravel, I will eventually get around to doing a bit of landscaping with rocks but I've also been thinking about planting it. I have very limited plant experience, got a few amazon swords growing well in my tropical tank but think that's more to do with their general hardiness than any care from me!
I say it's a coldwater tank but it's actually heated to 20c as I find it helps deter swimbladder issues. I have two 36" lights at 30W each - think that works out as not quite 2W per gallon? It's heavily filtered and the light is on for about 8 hours a day at the moment. What are some easy coldwater(ish) plants that I could bung in and rely on to grow without too much intervention from me? I don't want to use Co2 - it might be something I try out on the tropical tank in the future but the goldfish need high oxygen levels. Equally I don't really want to start upgrading the lights as they are brand new and I am still feeling the sting of buying the new setup
Oh, and the goldfish will most likely eat a lot of it, so it needs to be fast growing enough to survive, or else tough enough not to be appealing to them.
Am I looking for the impossible?
