hi,
just wordering what the easiest live food is to grow at home, i want to bring my dwarf gouramis into breeding condition.
i've heard that pouring boiling water onto a lettuce leaf and leaving on the windowsill in a jam jar will culture "insuforions", is this correct?
and are they good for getting the fish into condition?
Thanks, D.

Microworms are probably the easiest, but I'd say they're a bit too small for fully grown gouramis.

You'd probably do best with grindalworms, you just put some into a margerine tub with some ordinary compost and add a bit of porridge for the worms to feed on every so often.

Contact BigC as he can give you very good instructions and he sells cultures to get you started :good: or look in the buy sell and swap section.

Vinegar eel are the easiest to culture set them up and leave them be they feed on airborn bacteria. not an adult dietary item though.
Infusoria is a food for tiny fry not for bringing adults into condition, If you want to condition fish then give them the proper water stats and feed them a variety of foodstuffs rangeing from staple flake - frozen and livefood. Dont forget to perform regular water changes.
