I feed my motoro live swan mussels from time to time when i've got a bit of spare cash, it takes her about 10 minutes to get into one and then its all over, large pond snails are another favourite hers, she eats the shell and everything. It wont be long till they figure out how to get the shell open and then its dinner time

I saw a Moto ray in my lfs for £45. Is that good or not? The shop is generally expensive but i thought that was a bargain for something so cool!

sounds a bit cheap unless it was tiny, in which case uit's a risky business buying small rays are there extremely sensitive.

Could I get some info on these rays? How big do the get? How big of a tank do you need for them? This might have to be a future project for me.

Carl

They can quite easily get a disc diameter of 18" and require a MINIMUM of a 5x2ft tank, although most people accept that you need it to be 3ft wide for the rays to be comfortable. If I was setting up a tank for rays it would be 6x3x1ft.

There are some which get smaller, but only marginally with the smallest still being about 2ft including tail, and most people agree that they still need a large tank to be happy.

Thanks, Ben. Yeah I'm not a noob and after seeing them in the LFS once had already decided my current 150gal wasn't big enough. Would look quite sharp in the tank you mentioned. Also that tank would be relatively cheap to DIY. It really is to bad there no Dwarf variety.

Could i keep a ray with my fish below and does it need to be soft water- I really want one i found a sweet one in my lfs for £100

no animation you couldn't.
