I just read a topic in the tropical discution section about feading earthworms to tropical fish. I was just woundering if it would be o.k. if I cut them up and feed them to my betta?

I dont see any problem with it unless Bettas require a specific diet. I dont really know enough about individual species to give you a definative answer, but a fish is a fish is a fish and worms are yummy sources of food for them.

bettas are carnivores and I believe they would benefit from eating worms. When I had a betta I would give him small bugs and he loved it.

Thanx for the replies gyes. I'll give it a go. I'll cetch some bugs for him too. I'll let you know how it goes.

just got to be carful about posion, donet know what pestisides are legal in ur area but feeding a tainted bug you grab out of the yard could make ur fish very sick or kill it.

make sure you wash the worms well and squeeze out all the dirt from them prior to cutting them up. find that easier than having lots of dirt in the tanks when they start tearing them apart.
depending on the fish, i use smaller worms for community and chunky ones for my big fsh.

not advised for ANY fish. u risk introducing disease to the thank.

bettas "can" eat chopped earth-worms. if you must, make sure the worms are very clean..... stick to frozen blood worms if you must tho........
