My husband bought a new 29 gallon bow front tank with stand for me as an early Christmas present. I know that I'd like to use Eco-Complete as my substrate (as I plan on a moderately planted tank) with maybe some kind of slate wall to make different levels in the tank.

I know what fish I like, but I'm not sure what to put in the tank. I have no idea what fish will get along in a tank this size. I like an active tank with lots of colorful fish to look at. I don't really care for mollies or plattys. Can anyone offer some suggestions / helpful advise on how to stock the tank? The following is a list of some of the fish that interest me.

Kribs
Angels
Dwarf Blue Rams
German Gold Rams
Leopard Puffers
Spotted Corys
Panda Corys

nice xmas present! few comments on the fish you like

Kribs - african's, generally prefer a higher ph but i think kribs are pretty adaptable so out of all the african's they'll do better than others in a lower ph
Angels - need a bigger tank i'm afraid, at least 40g and 18" deep
Dwarf Blue Rams - nice little fish
German Gold Rams - same again
Leopard Puffers - don't know these specific puffers but in generall they do best in a species tank
Spotted Corys - again nice little fish, do best in a group of 6+
Panda Corys - as above but these are one of the most delicate of all cories, make sure the tank has been running for at least 6 months before you get them, and keep the sand meticulously clean.

i think you could have a really nice slightly unusual community tank, here's what i'd suggest

6 corys
2 blue rams
2 gold rams
3 apistogramma agassizzi or cacatuoides (or similar) 1m:2f
2 kribs
6 gold white cloud mountain minnows

think that'd make a lovely tank, you'd need to provide plenty of caves and hidey holes for the apistogramma's and make sure you feed some sinkin and live food, but other than that there's nothing tricky to care for really and it'd make an interesting little selection

:D

If you were after something like all parts of the tank filled like mid, top and bottom dwellers maybe something like..

Top: 1 African Butterfly Fish
Middle: Any Apisto as they spend alot of time in mid water
Bottom: 6 cories or perhaps 4 yoyo loaches

Kribs and rams are a bad combinaton. If the kribs breed your Rams are likely to come off much the worse for the encounter. Both hang around the bottom and get territorial.... Best to stick with one or the other.
