I've had about 12 swordtails in my 55G community tank with a pair of pearl gouramis, zebra danios, black neons, serpae tetras and a molly. Over the weekend I had a bad die off of swordtails. I lost about 5 in a short period. One of the black neons appeared to have a a fungal disease on him. Many of the remaining swordtails were "wagging" their body and either hovering at the bottom or just below the surface of the water. I QT'd the black neon and the swordtails that were affected. water params were good. I've been trying the EI planted tank fert, so that's about all I can come up with. I believe I saw some ich on one of the danios, but it's harder than you can imagine to see what's going on with them. I believe there was something in the tank, though. I did 2 big water changes and hooked up my UV sterilizer.

In the QT, I've lost 2 more swordies, with 3 remaining. They are all showing the same symptoms as when in the main tank. I treated the tank with the jungle anti-fungus tablet and the black neon seems completely better.

I did a big water change and treated the tank with jungle anti-parasite yesterday as they're exhibiting symptoms that I've seen caused by parasites before.

So now, I have 3 swordies in QT which are acting sickly. One is wagging his body and hovering around the bottom, and the other two are hanging out at the top. I have 2TBSP of salt in this tank - it's a 10G, because I do believe that there is ich afoot in my tanks.

Any idea what could be wrong with my swordies?

Water stats would be good in ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and ph.
Whitespot looks like grains of salt on the fish, and whitespot can cause bacterial infections on top.
If they have grains of salt on the fish turn temp up tp 30 and increase aeration with the high temp and med as it reduces 02 in the tank.
Where is the fungos on the fish as columnaris if fluffy looking and also shows if self in many ways.

I am pretty sure I do have ich in the tank. None of the fish in QT have any signs of ich, but since they came from a tank that did, I added the salt.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't columnaris - I've had that long ago. This was more of a greying of big patches of their skin. The jungle anti-fungal has wiped that out. I'm getting ready to put the black neon back in the 55G tank.

The swordies aren't showing any physical signs - no spots, discoloration, etc. Just behavioral.

I just realized I didn't give the stats. They're 0 0 10 in the 55G tank and 0 0 <10 in the 10G QT tank - I've been aggressively changing the water, but it is cycled.

Patches of grey can be parasites, bad water quality to bacterial infections.
