if the filter is so strong that it pushes the fish across the tank try to aim it to the back of the tank as this makes the water in the middle stays calm so that the fish can rest there. and one of your questions live plants are better for your tank as these give of oxygen

I have been asked whether or not I can turn the filter down, so I'm going to have a look tomorrow, If I can't I will try and aim it to the back of the tank like you say. Never thought of that, thanks and i will get real plants and replace my plastic ones also.
