Over the last 4 weeks I have lost about 5 dwarf gouramis, they start of with what looks like an ulcer between their whiskers (Sorry don't know correct term) over a few days this gets bigger turning red and looks really sore. It then grows a fungus and they die within a week.
As soon as I spot it I have removed them and put them in my quarantine tank, I have tried MelaFix, Protozin, Flubenol 15 and Interpret No. 9 Anti Internal Bacteria, but none of these have worked. They all feed well right up to the last.

I tried to get pictures but my camera is jut not up to the job.

Any idea's, I'm really lost on this one?

Sorry, does the fungus first show on their anus?
Could you post your tank stats and general info please, if you have a look at the emergency secton of this forum there is a copiable post that gives you all the stats you need to inform us of.
Or for a quicker response you might try posting the same question there.
Possibly iridiovirus if you've treated for all that.... Doubt it from the symptoms though, based on what little i know of it.
Do you live in australia?
Camera phones are excellent for fish close ups.

Actually, this sounds familiar... I don't keep gouramis, but in some regions, it seems healthy ones are very hard to come by. Sudden appearance of ulcer, no response to meds, and the fish dies. Regular gouramis are fine, but a lot of people have problems with the dwarfs. (I think there was even a thread really recently, something like "have you successfully kept Dwarf Gouramis?" I think it was in tropical chat, but don't quote me on that.

Yep :good: the iridiovirus (spelt wrong, tired and mildly inebriated)

Unfortunately, you are not the only one. Have a look at this thread, in which there is a very good explanation about the ulcer (this is indeed, the right word!) in dwarfs: http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?s=&amp...t&p=1511598

However, if you are quick to spot the disease, there is a possible cure. I have a dwarf which has been living with the disease for several months now. I give him medicated foods (active ingredient: tetracicine), and although the ulcer has not disappeared it doesn't seem to bother him. You have to quarantine them though if you want to use medicated foods.

Thanks for the advise, I'll check out the link over the weekend. Maybe I'll hold back on the Dwarf Gouramis for a while. I've got about 3 left. If they survive for the next few months, I'll restock.
