I have a moral dilemma which I hope you can help me with.

On another board, there is outrage about this:

...as they say it is a dyed fish.

Is this correct? It's just my LFS have a large (14"+) one that I assume is a handin, that's nearly identical (it's spots aren't as pink, more orangey red). I don't know if it being a handin makes it any less disgusting to me, I think it does, but even so. Are these dyed?

Thanks Bloo. The reason I asked is because it didn't look obviously dyed like the pic I posted and the one you did - it had orangey markings instead of pink or purple. I wondered if these had a natural pattern of pigment, like "albino"/lutino oscars?

I think this is the nail in the coffin for my LFs, they've been going badly downhill recently and although I kindof expect local fish shops to be crap and can therefore write off the months of bad advice, their fish used to be in good condition and until now I hadn't seen any dyed fish in there. Now the fish quality is poor and they've got one of these in :(
