Dwarf Puffer

Hi guys,

I have a 10g tank that I'd like to put a Dwarf Puffer in but I'm curious as to what filtration to use? Would a simple Fluval 1 internal be ok? It did the job when I had two young fancy goldfish in a 10g so maybe it would be ok for a Dwarf Puffer. Also do DP's like current because it produces a fair amount of current in the 10g and it was certainly too much for my Betta.

I am thinking of a Play Sand substrate with plenty of plants.

Any recommendations on temperature and also do they eat freeze dried food? I want to hear what you would recommend as their staple diet and what to supplement every week or so. I read that they need Ramshorn snails every fortnight to grind down their teeth? Do they eat freeze dried foods?

From what I've read after getting curious about the "salivator" Red Eye Puffers, they do best in very heavily planted tanks, as it allows lots of exploring and breaks up the tank into territories. In such a tank, the current from your filter will be vastly reduced, from the "wind break" effect of such plants as a Java Fern mother plant.

Ok well I think that I'm only going to put 1 DP into the 10g so he won't have to worry about competing for territory. Will hopefully be moderately to densely planted. Can get a lot of cuttings from my other aquariums.

If you are going to heavily plant your tank you could easily get away with having 2 of the little devils in there. If they eat the same as the regular sized green spotted puffer (am guessing the do ) then a good varity is essential.
pest snails, blood worm, cockels, flakes, algea waffers etc.. mine are not really picky.
