The dwarf species arent as easily obtainable as the larger ones but the better shops usualy have them in from time to time, C.compresicips (spelling) is probably the most commonly seen but look out for C.notophthalmus which also turns up from time to time and are stunning little fish.
Care wise they are best suited to a species tank, they are as aggressive as their larger counterparts which rules them out of tanks with small fish but their size limits what you can safely keep with them thats bigger, most fish capable of standing up to a dwarf pike are also big enough to swallow or seriously harm one.
Breeding is tricky as most pikes hate the sight of each other and anything else remotely pike looking, its best to buy a group of juviniles and wait for a pair to form, unfortunately the first sign of this is a tank full of dead siblings. A single dwarf pike could be kept in as tank as small as 15-20 gallons but a pair will require at least double that and prefferably in the 40-55g range, they dont so much as share a territroy but have territories that overlap and only join up when they are breeding or raising fry.
