Ive looked but i couldnt find anything. What is the best way to plant dwarf hairgrass? its potted now but i dont like the look of the black pot and it wont fit underneath the gravel. please help. thanks!

I took mine out of the pot and broke in to a bunch of small clumps. I planted them about an inch apart, and covered a good-sized area. They didn't grow well for me so I ditched them for some others.

Same here, spaced clumps around an inch apart. An enriched substrate helps a lot and plenty of light.

Same method as above for planting, or if your the patient type and the hairgrass is fine, use a tweezers and plant about 10 strands at a time spaced about a Cm or two apart, hairgrass propagates from runners so the more individual strands you plant the more runners you will get, and therefore it will carpet more quickly.

where did you find your dwarf hair grass? we found some at a LFS but it's not that healthy looking :/ SOOOO we're looking...

Sometimes hairgrass type plants can die back when planted in an aquarium, they usually are not dead though, they will grow back, they are usualy just adjusting to life under water as most of them are grown emmersed above water in the plant nurseries.

Dwarf Hairgrass IME is a very easy plant to grow. I put some in my tank that gets sunlight a couple hours a day, and it is starting to carpet nicely. Granted, I do get algae, but I have the time to wipe it off, and the algae only comes back once every two weeks after cleaning. The tank doesn't even have any artificial light, doesn't get co2, and doesn't get fertilizers and is still growing fairly quickly.
