Dwarf Gourami

I currently have a male dwarf gourami. I am planing on getting a female companion for him this week. I have been advised that males harras the females during mating. I only have a smallish 30 litre tank. Whats your expereinces with dwarf gouramis and females?

we bought ours as a pair they seem to be fine together but he does harras our female pearl gourami

i would say yes, my male harassed the female in my 30l tank to the point of exaustion. i recomend a tank of 60l no less is u want to have a happy cupple
but then every fish varys maby your male wont be a pig..... lol i cant help but love my gourami

That tank is too small for a pair of dwarf gouramis so I would have to say no to you getting another. Yes they will harrass a female. With gouramis the ideal stocking ratio for most of the species IMO is 1M:3F. You may get away with 1:2 for the more peaceful species though.
