hey i just got a dwarf gourami and an albino cory that wont accept any salt. do gourami's require any salt in their water?

i will most likely take the albino back since he will be too big for the tank. with this in mind, how many female gourami's are needed for a single male? and what other small fish will be good in the tank with the gourami?

thanks :)

Gourami definitely do not require salt.

What sized tank, scuba_jez?

Female dwarf gourami aren't too common, but if you can get them, try to keep at least 2 females per male.

Tankmates depend on the tank size really, though in general gourami prefer calmer, less boistrous tankmates.

Hope that's a start...

Hi Scuba,
two females to a male is ok; I have 6 neon tetras, 6 platies, to give a community and with the temp down to 24c so the gourami wont keep breeding all the time.
When I want them to breed I put the females in an empty (planted, cycled) tank for a day, turn the temp up to 28 c , then introduce the male.
Good luck
Davejey :)

My brother kept some and they were really peaceful. He had them with platies and white clouds.

ok well my tank is a midget 28 L (7.5 gallons if im lucky - why did i bother??) but it looks really really nice! the pic in my avatar is my gourami :D

i went to my LFS and they had female dwarf gouramis which were the same species as the one i have. i decided not to get any, i would preffer the male gourami as the center piece with three little cory cats running around :)

thanks for your replies, i wish i could post you a pic of my tank here but i dont know how :*) theres a pic of it in the planted section though.
