I have 2 pairs of dwarf gourami, we had problems with them fighting at first but now they're not as bad. I've noticed that both males have been losing patches of scales from their head and surrounding area but they do grow back. I can't see any fungus, slime or fuzz so am assuming that this is from darting around after the females and stealing leaf/algae debris and eggs from each others nests (one of the nests is built under a large log ornament). I've recently noticed that the less dominant male is getting discoloured (turning gold) patches of scales that are now under is head and moving down his body (literally just past his face) and am thinking that maybe something is wrong.

They are feeding well, active, breeding and growing back these lost-scale patches. None of the other fish, including the female dwarf gouramis are having the same problem.
The tank is a 200L, water readings are fine, Ph - 7.6, Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, Nitrate 20. We do a weekly water change, glass clean and gravel vaccum.
Tankmates are - 6 guppys and 6 pearl danios.
Diet is 3/4 flake and 1/4 frozen daphnia/bloodworm.

Is there anything wrong? Should i give them salt treatment just to be on the safe side?
Cheers!
