Hi folks,
Been a while since I posted an update but here goes. I have had no deaths in a long time.
Stocking is currently;
2 x Dwarf Gourami
2 x German Blue Ram
6 x Harlequin Rasbora
1 x Red Tail Shark
1 x Bristlenose Pleco
After much consideration, I think I am going to re-home the RTS. He has been excellent, no signs of aggression although he is still a juvenile and his general behaviour has been very good and I am surprised just at how friendly he is but I guess as he gets older and bigger the aggression will show etc. They are all getting along fine just now so will wait and see.
Onto the DG. I thought for sure they were males but they may not be. They have been getting more and more aggressive with each other. Chase each other around, try to nip each other, especially at feeding time. They also do this dance thing similar to this () but I haven't seen them to do it near the bubbles so I assumed it was an aggression thing. So I started to rethink about re-homeing one of them until this..
Anyway I woke up this morning to what appears to be a bubble nest at the far end of the tank. (I tried to get a picture but because of the location it is hard) but it certainly is one! It's not really attached to anything apart from the glass. There is floating plants in that corner but they seem to have avoided these for whatever reason. So does this mean they have successfully bred and shortly I will have some fry?
If so, what do I need to do? I would like to have a shot at caring for the fry if so. I have a floating breeding plastic thing and also have a new 10 gallon quarantine tank but it is not set up yet.
I will be back shortly with some pictures of the DG and if I can get one a picture of the bubble nest.
