I want to get a pair of Dwarf cichlids for my setup and would like recommedations

The tank is a 270litre and heavily planted

I have various community fish and a pair of Kribensis

What I want is another pair of easy to breed Cichlids

Any ideas?

it really depends on whats available to you,

blue rams or bolivian rams along with the kribs are probably the most common species avaiable,

other than those you could look at apistos, keyholes, Crenicara Filamentosa, and Dicrossus maculatus if you can find them

here is also a site which gives the names of a few more species

A belated thanks

Think I might try some Bolivian Rams - will they be safe with small neons?

If I can be sure of getting a pair I get them - otherwise I think I'll get 4 to give me a better chance of a pair

Not only are dwarf cichlids ok with small neons, you'll see your cichlids more with a shoal of small fish in your tank. This is because in the wild they use them as a warning signal, if neons for example are there then there aren't any predators about if all the neons have gone, ie hid, then its dangerous for them to be out in the open.

ahh would that be why my blue rams came out more when i added more fish? it all makes sense now

i might be biased but have a look at the blue rams, i think they are more colourful then the bolivian although they too are nice fish

If we're going for bias answers go for Apisto's! The male and female are so different in colouration it looks like you get to different species for the price of one!

Well I now have

A pair of Kribs
A pair of Blue Rams
A pair of Nannacara anomala

In the dim distant past when I bred Kribs I added a small flowperpot as a cave

My current tank has mases of bogwood and lots of plants - should I add some flowerpots or makes some slate caves or is the bogwood enough?
