Hi,

I'm new to cichlids and was curious if the more peaceful cichlids like dwarf or rams are compatible with amanos or cherrys? My amanos are mostly fully grown (1.5-2 inch) and the cherrys are also full (1 inch). It would kill me if I bought some dwarfs only to find all my shrimp gone in a few days!

I'm thinking of bolivian rams with amano and blue shrimp(the same as cherry just..blue) and I know that other members have had success.

I think the amanos are too big and the smaller shrimp just manage to either keep away from the rams or the bolivian rams aren't bothered.

Will be interesting to see any other opinions though as I also intend on doing what you are.

baby shrimp would definately get eaten though...

oh dear,i was hoping to get some cherry shrimp, i have just bought apistogramma cacatuoides double reds,so looks like cherry are out!!

Thanks for the replies...

@Jack, do you think the full grown amanos will be ok with the apistogramma?

I added 10 baby cherry shrimps to my tank a couple of months ago -
bought off ebay. And that was the last I saw of them until this morning
when I saw one bright red cherry shrimp sitting on a leaf at the front of the tank.
Somehow he survived a community tank with 18+ fish in it.
Now I keep looking to see if any others have also survived. :shout:
