I have a 30 long community tank. Ever since I got gouramis there have been bubbles on the top. usually they just floated around and such. A week or 2 ago I got another dwarf gourami. Before i had 2 red dwarfs. This one is very blue. They all have pointed dorsal fins, so I think they are all male. I'll get some pics in a little while.

So, I just noticed that the new dwarf is definitely building a bubble nest. It is almost half an inch thick, and is in the corner of the tank. It has lots a plant materia in it. He tends to pluck it off the filter intake. He has also included a sword plant leaf in there, bigger then the nest! He goes to the surface, takes in air, and goes under the nest to expell bubbles. Now, is he building the nest, or just acting weird? He occasionally leaves to chase around the other dwarfs. I have a picture of one of the other dwarfs. Thank you and I will get some pictures of all 3 and the nest.

And, I can't upload a picture, how do I do it?

He pobably has built a bubblenest (couldn't realy be anything else by the sounds of it) but, particularly if you don't have any females, they won't spawn and you wouldn't get any eggs or fry surviving in a community tank anyway. Don't worry about it unless he starts getting very aggressive towads his tankmates in which case destroying the bubblenest is the best option. Oh and don't consider getting any females unless you have a tank of about 45 gallons where you could have more females than males and still allow for individual territories to be set up - just in case your 3 are all male and you were now considering trying to breed. If you'd like to read up on breeding them though, there's a pinned topic about it and you'll also find plenty if you do a search of this section. The betta section could also come in handy as gouramies and bettas are very similar.

That's one of them.

It's a male flame/red (as well as many other trade names) dwarf.
