Hi

Just a quick question:

Is there a difference between dutch rams and german blue rams or are they the same? Reason I ask is that I was looking at getting a mate for my female blue ram, and saw some lovely rams in a lfs - but they're labelled as Dutch rams and do look slightly different.

Am I just being a nonce - would I have to get another german blue?

i think the dutch rams are a little bigger, and have more red on them, but im not completely familiar with them  . if you want them to mate i would recommend getting a german blue just to be on the safe side. sorry i dont know much about the dutch rams, hopefully someone else will have a little better insight on them :)

Nope, they are the same species.

I'm not sure if they the 'Dutch rams' are any different from the Germans (never seen 'Dutch rams'), I always thought the 'German' part just referred to them being bred in Germany - as opposed to the low-quality hormone induced breeding rams bred elsewhere.

It wouldn't surprise me at all is the 'German' part just means high quality rather than actually German, so stockists apply the name to all rams  .
