Dum question??

This may be a dumb question to you. I really struggle to get lush plant growth and to keep algae at bay. It's kind of beard algae. Any help, thanks.

Poor plant growth with high algal growth suggests there are too many nutrients, particulaly phosphates and nitrates, and not enough light.

It is difficult to comment further without a better description of you set up.
