Okay, these are the three plants I have in my betta tanks. Will these plants be okay soaking up water with a bit of salt and dechlor in it? Or will it damage/kill them?

Also, what do you do about the plants if you need to medicate the water?

Plants are fine with dechlorinator...not sure about salt.

I think most medications are plant safe, I think they would say on bottle if they weren't. I've used melafix with no problems. But then melafix is basically tea tree oil isn't it?

some salt is fine for just about any plant...when you start nearing brackish conditions (maybe half way there even or before, i'm not sure), many will begin to die, though.

Plants are usually not impressed if you use a medication with copper in it.

They should be able to tolerate a bit of salt in the water.

Duckweed will quickly cover the top of the water it's in - make sure there's room for your Bettas to get to the surface and grab some air.

Duckweed and water lettuce are very hardy plants. I'm not sure how the medications (particularly the salt) would go over well with willow moss. Fontinalis sp. are not like java moss. They inhabit cool, fast moving, freshwater streams. I doubt they come in contact with salt in their natural environment that often (if ever). Where did you get your willow moss? Are you sure it is willow moss (fontinalis apryticata) as a lot of shop owners accidentally miss-label asian mosses as willow moss, which comes from Europe. I'm not sure, but it might also grow in North America . . .
