hi, i have duckweed in my pond and im after a floating plant, can i use it in my tank? i will soak it for a while but is it useable otherwise it will go in the bin.

thats cool thanks, i need a floating plant, i know duckweed is a bad one as it is more of a pest, but my 2 lfs have never stocked any floating plants.

u sure u rearly want duckweed in a tank!!!!!!!

i would never but that coz i hate the stuff.

surly u can get something off ebay like riccia

i dont but i need a floating plant. does ricca spread and grow really well. (like multiply?) how many wpg does it need.

I was able to grow loads of riccia in low levels (no direct light)

once u add duck weed ur lucky to get rid of it so avoide unless ur sure u need it

Salvinia species and Amazonian frogbit are also good floating species to try. Very easy to grow denser root structures for fry to hide.

any links of places i can get any of these you mention inc ricca. somewhere nice and cheap!

I'd avoid duckweed, I'd prefer to float hornwart, wisteria, or water sprite if I had no better options. Duckweed will get everywhere. They sold it at the LFS near me, and many of the buyers were not so happy with their decision to get it. why not just order something less invasive online?

riccia doesnt need as much light if you float it, because the light is more intense as it is closer, but it also doesnt have to penetrate through the water.

another option is water lettuce.
