I bought 9 gold barbs last night from a not so clean LFS... but they were the only place that actually had the barbs. Long story short, I put them in the quar. tank, because they seemed a little blah from being in the LFS. The majority of them perked up right away, but others were slightly listless and upon further inspection, had slight dropsy.

I looked in the FAQ and read that Tetracycline can be used for the fish, to fight the infection. I have come pills from a few months ago and was wondering how to administer them. Do I crush them up and add them to the water, or what? Any help would be appreciated. :good:

EDIT: I honestly think that it would be a bacterial infection... since the LFS isn't always the cleanest. That's what I get for buying from them :/

You can add to food, or crush them up to a fine powder and stir in tank water in a jug, then add to the tank.

Whats the dosage of the tablet.
Epson salt baths are best for drawing fluid out, get you some info.
Look also under dropsy after reading about epson salt.
Don't forget to turn aeration up with the med, and remove black carbon.
