My fish is now starting to sulk a lot...He has been starved for three weeks, and I keep giving him peas every 4-5 days, which he eats. Looking at the pictures, at first his scales weren't as raised...now his scales seem a lot more raised....could this be dropsy? Or is he just constipated? Im giving him salt baths.

There is a white mucosy thing coming out from his belly...I don't know what to do...please help.

From what I have read in my thread the last few days that looks like dropsy the raised scales (pinecone effect) usually comes with dropsy.

Treating with epsom salt baths and water changes are your best bet for survival.

He's got white stringy poo coming out, So is this an infection now? Or both dropsy and infection?

have you tried a wormer with him? used any internal bacterial meds?
this issue has been quite ongoing right? dropsy usually is much swifter in the demise of the fish. white stringy poo is from: constipation(youve pretty much ruled this out) internal bacterial infection, or internal parasites.
id try a wormer on him.
cheers

excuse my ignorance...but what's a wormer...?

Its a medicine which kills worms inside the fish, just like what you have to give to dogs every now and then.

yes indeed^^ i suppose i should have said DEwormer :/ the medication youd try would treat for internal parasites (it covers more than just worms as far as parasites go). is he flicking on objects or rubbing?
good luck

No he isn't flicking himself on objects. Just sulking at the bottom.

if he is sulking and not acting himslef, id treat for internal BACTERIA instead of parasites. i was under the impression that he was acting normally, just really fat(which is a big pointer to parasites).
i would PM Wilder and ask what to recommend. make sure you include location. or have a google of fish internal bacteria and look up a good broad specturm (cover gram negative and positive bacteria) medication.
good luck with him.
cheers

Hey hon, go with what loraxchick has said and definately PM Wilder with that pic from the other thread as she is extremely good at diagnosis. Calcifer went that way and it was dropsy, but really hoping it is something more treatable, best of luck.

I think he is sick, thats why he is sulking (sleeping at the bottom all the time)...but everytime he sees me he always comes up and swims to see me.....should i just treat him for both parasite and bacterial?

Hey Guys

I took a picture just now...Are you sure this isn't dropsy? His scales are really sticking out now. More than they were a few weeks ago.
