Fish Aficionado
Our blue ram is developing a case of dropsy. One of my bettas died recently and had dropsy REALLY bad.. that was the first time I've experienced it and it totally freaked me out when I saw it.
I dunno what it is about it, but... it makes my skin crawl to even look at my fish w/ it.
I've seen pics of it on the net when looking up various diseases and such, but when I saw it in the flesh... just.. bleh. I really don't even want to be close to the tank w/ the fish in it if I don't have to be.
I feel bad for my fish, but I can barely stand to even look at them knowing that their scales are raised like that.
Every other thing doesn't bother me though that's happened. Like the wound on the ram's head.. or it's popeye that's now started to bleed (poor thing). They both look gross, but it's the dropsy thing that gets to me.
With all that being said, I do still take care of my fish and watch over them and try to make them comfy in their final moments.
I can't be the only one! I know there have to be others who are totally freaked out by some other thing that can happen to fish.... maybe not dropsy but something else.
