Driftwood

Ok, this is the same 40/g i was asking about earlier, the heavily potted one. i wanted to put driftwood in it to make a realistic atmosphear but it will stain my water brown. does anyone know how to clear up the water it a relitivly short amout of time? anything would be a big help.

Carbon should do it...not sure how plants would do long-term, tho.
