I need to put some driftwood in my tank for my hubby's bristle nose plec. We found several nice pieces on the riverbank (upstream from any dumping, etc.) and I brought it home and boiled it for over three hours. Then I put it in a cooler and poured hot water over it. It has been in the cooler for almost a week now and I have replaced the hot water daily. All but one piece of the wood will now sink and the water is pale yellow, which I can live with in my tank. Is there anything else I need to do to make sure it doesn't cause any health problems when I put it in the tank? Thanks in advance. :D

just boil it which you have done!
the piece that wont sink either leave it or attetch it to some slate/rock and itl be fine!

it really couldn't hurt to boil it one last time before adding it to your tank. standing water does tend to grow things...

That's probably a very good idea. It sure wouldn't hurt. I'll drag the turkey roaster back out tonight and give it another hour or so on the stove. My hubby hates the smell, but I kind of like it. :p
