i have been cycling my tank about a week and i just saw that my pieces of drifwood are changing colors. there seems to be a lot of new darker brown spots which might be algae but not sure, also i have seen a lot of hair-like algae growing around each of the pieces and was wondering if that is ok, but all that algea is white and looks like a spider web.
what is all this stuff and is it ok to have ?

Is it a fishless cycle you are currently running?
If so i beleve its possibly normal as i have heard of it before in fishless tanks but never tanks with fish in. If there is nothing in the tank then its because im guessing one of the following reasons: A, the fish eat it before it grows and develops to a noticeable size. or B, where the fish swim and move in the water it dislodges and ends up in the filter?
This is just a educated guess because like i said ive heard of it alot in fishless tanks but never in stocked tanks.

it is a fishless cycle, someone else said it was some type of algae and to remove it ! haha so we'll see what anyone else has to say.
but thanks for the reply
