Are driftwood and bogwood the same thing? Will driftwood sink? the guy at the LFS said that driftwood will only float...

To my way of thinking
driftwood = a piece of wood found on the beach or river bank
bogwood = a piece of mango-root or other type of wood that has been cleaned up and is ready for aquariums.

Maybe that is just me :dunno:

In the ideal world that would be the difference but as far as wood found in the LFS goes both are the same thing, most bogwood sold in stores has never even been near a bog let alone been pulled out of one.

When choosing a piece of wood it should be dark brown in colour and feel heavy for its size, this is the wood i term as bogwood, driftwood is usually a grey colour and feels light for its size, it usually is very bouyant and so should be avoided for aquariums
