i have a few cool pieces of drift wood i want to use for my 20 gallon.how should i keep them down.i was thinking of like puttin them on a small thin peice of plywood and like burry them in stone.im doing a bottom stone filler and marine sand on top.

Boil it or at least soak it in hot water. Then rinse in cool water and put it in your tank with some rocks ontop until it gets water logged.

A lot of people soak wood for 12 hours and more, changing the wter often, to get rid of the tannins. Tannin is not harmful and can be beneficial to some fish but people don't generally like their tank to look like black tea until it is removed.

Hi. I just piled some rocks on top of mine for now until it will stay on bottom by itself. You could tie it with some fishing line to a suitable rock to keep it down. Don't use ply-wood though; it's full of glue and i wouldn't risk it as it might hurt your fish.

One time it took almost a month for my driftwood to finally stay down. Luckily this past week, a piece of driftwood I picked up took 2 days, but I think it was because it was waterlogged previously and then taken out.

Personally, I like the look of tannins. Not heavy of course. My tank has the ever so slighest tint and it makes the water actually look nicer than if its just clear. Goes well with my sand/plant thing.
