Hey yall finally scraped a deposit for my new tank,
a 145 gallon 153 (5ft) x 60 x 60 cm, when i get it set up i would really like to get some suggestions, i would put my oscar and my pleco in there but what else?
What would you guys and girls put in this tank?

The fish i would like are;
Jag
Texas
Green terror
Trimac

if you could offer any suggestions as to what would work with my o and what would not, also stocking numbers rembering its a 145 gallon.
Cheers looking forward to any replies.

Congrats on the new tank Sounds great your maximum # of fish in inches should be under 200 thats quiet alot of room for fish

In your shoes I'd get add a couple female Oscars in hopes that he'd pair up with one of them, then remove the third. I've never kept more then one Oscar, but most new world cichlids have pretty cool mating behavior. If you can find them big enough, big schoaling fish could probably go, like tinfoils or silver dollars,-fill up the tank and act as target fish.

Go with some of the Geophagus or Satanoperca species as well, I have them in my 140g with my Oscar and they go really well together.
Careful with the big aggressive species though, 140g sounds like a lot, but an oscar will claim a lot of that as his own, if you then add something like a jag into the mix, you could end up with problems.
I had to get rid of my severum for that exact reason, and OK, he was probably an exception, but sevs are supposed to be a more peaceful cichlid!!

so if my o pairs than i won't have room for any more cichlids? except maybe a geo or satano spp.
The idea of a geophagus species as well sounds good you think that would fit? also what ratio or just one?,
also how big of a shoal of tinfoils/silver dollars would be recomended?
Cheers

Something like 6 tinfoil barbs or 10-12 silver dollars would work, give or take. You would want to make sure to buy them at a size relative to the size of your Oscars, keeping in mind that O's grow faster.

Never tried geo's, but they would fit, since they don't take too much room, but provide good hiding spots that the Oscars can't wander into, and also aim for a pair, rather then having one nervous little guy.
