Hello,

I'm not new to fishkeeping but figured this was probably the best section to post in with my query. I currently have a Rekord 80 with tetratec external etc. However, owing to jobs I have to move away and unfortunately my fish can't come with me. However I love keeping fish I think they're amazing so I am after some advice on tank sizes. I'll probably be looking at having something only 12" long and maybe I dunno 16/18" tall at a guess so basically a cube and was wondering would I be better going for tropical and keeping a few small species in a planted tank or having a nano reef type thing.

Any advice on possible products or setups will be most welcome.

Cheers

Dimensions 30 x 30 x 41cm/12" x 12" x 16
Surface area 0.09 sqm/0.97 sq ft/ inches sq in
Volume 38 l./8 gal. (10.04 US gal.)
Probable volume 34 l./7 gal. (9 US gal.)

Personally i would go for a small tropical community tank set up. Personally, when it comes to fish stocking, i would have

1 male guppy, 3 females (or 1male endler and 4 females)
3 pygmy or panda corys
3 ghost shrimp
1 golden apple snail

Excellent. I can actually then keep some of my guppies. Only trouble is they breed like Rabbits. Any Idea where I can buy a tank with those apporx measurments?

Well there are some tanks on ebay roughly around those tank dimensions like this one;

Its a good looking little tank, but i dunno if the seller deals in english.

edit: here's a couple more;

I'm not sure if these are the sort of tanks you are looking for :thumbs: .

Your a star buddy. That's just the ticket, will look perfect. If only my 'interior designing' was that good when it comes to plant arrangement etc :rolleyes:

Appreciate the help

The only problem with cubes I find is that they don't offer a lot of swimming space for the capacity and it can be more difficult for light to get to the bottom as they are tall for their width. As long as you pick less active fish you will be fine. Pygmy cories, amano shrimp, galaxy rasboras (although check where stock is from as they are becoming endangered), Tiger Snails even possibly a few platies would do fine in there.

Another option is to have a single dwarf puffer.

:good:

The tank in your sig looks good. But If any fish what so ever are endangered or even on the brink of it I won't buy them. It's not morally right. Unless of course I was breeding in captivity. Better alive in captivity than gone altogether
