what is the maximum dosing period for melafix before i should start to see some results, ie partial regrowth of fins?

it's been almost 3 weeks after i started treating with melafix in my 10 gallon tank and i still haven't seen any results.

is it safe to say the fins won't grow back and i should stop treatment?

How deep is the damage to the fins? What fins is the damage to?

I wouldn't treat after 3 weeks. If it's to something like the tail fin and it's not to the meaty area they should grow back with wc's. Try every other day wc's of about 10% and see if that helps.

the picture below is only for reference and not of the actual fish. the fins that are damaged are indicated by the arrows. i am most worried about the female albino cory's left pectoral fin, which only has the spiny part left.

If the melafix isn't working I would try pimafix because pimafix is also treatment for internal bacteria. Do it for 7 days and stop treating with melafix. If it didn't do anything in 3 weeks it's not ggoing too.

I had a goldfish with an ulcer who wasn't feeling so hot....wouldn't eat or swimming around much at all for a week. The ucler just got worse and worse. Then I added a black moore goldfish who had some damaged fins. One of his pectoral fins was split down the middle, all the way to his body and it hurt just watching him use it, as both "halves" were so seperated they would go in different directions.

I put the recommended dose of Melafix in there and everything was completely healed within a week and a half, and the fish with the ucler is the biggest food hog of all of them now!

With that being said I think its safe to say you may be looking at something permanent. If not its taking a long time to heal, especially with melafix.
