Finally got my tpn+ through the post today, 500 ml bottle :) According to the instructions, I need 12.5ml per week dosing for my 125l tank, so I dosed just under a weeks fert into all 3 planted tanks I have today in with the fresh water of a water change to mix it through a little. Am I better dosing it at say, 1.5-2ml per day? Am I alright with just dosing this or do I need other ferts to go with it, I'm a little unsure, and the DIY pinned topic on ferts blows my mind totally right now :shout:

Any help much appreciated as always, sorry for the question, just finding it quite hard to get my head around right now :(

Dosing smaller amounts more frequently is almost always better than dosing one large amount each week. It doesn't even have to be daily. Try Mon-Wed-Fri or every other day if that helps.

I will leave the rest of your question to the experts.

Why such an overdose aaron? Would that not cause an algae outbreak? I'm not doubting what you say btw, im just curious as to why :good:

i dose 3ml a day on my 60l, as a guidline 1ml per 20l will be fine.
When you dose 12.5ml plants will more than likley use that within the first few days, so 2ml wont be much on your tank, if you want you can start off with 2ml, and raise it if you see defficiencies.

Excess nutrients dont cause algae.

eching what is said above, too much lighting causes algae problems.

if you dont have enough co2 and ferts and a large amount of light, thats when you get algae.

5ml is fine

Ok cool thanks for clearing that up! I'm starting to get my head around it all now, I'll start dosing 5ml every day then, is it good to have a day off aswell?

One more q, am I alright just dosing with TPN+ or is there anything else I should be dosing aswell?

Cheers!

i think when a tank is newly set up some ammonia used to leach out of the silicone (i think it was ammonia) and often that caused dust alage, however i think in very modern times they use better silicones and the effects are reduced.
