I have KNO3, KH2PO4 and CSM+B(Trace), and I would just like someone to walk me through the steps on how to properly mix these up. Do I use dechlorinated tap water to mix them in? Do I have to mix them each time I dose the ferts? I have 1.6 WPG T8. It was recommended to me to just dose half the recommended amount for 2-3 weeks and see if I have any changes with the plants, if not then dose the recommended amount.

I was also told by another member on here that the CSM+B molds up fast, so I should make a smaller batch of that.

I do not have Co2 injection.

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply! Yes I have read that before, but I would still like someone to walk me through the steps if possible?

Thanks!

"Full EI"
Potassium Nitrate - 40g to 500ml of water and adding 10ml per 100L of water would give you a value of 5ppm.
Potassium Phosphate - 15g to 500ml of water and adding 5ml per 100L of water would give you a value of 1ppm.
Trace - 25g to 500ml and dose 20ml per 100L

use tap water to mix them, make monthly batches of each product.

is this for the 55g?

if so...

20ml KNO3
5ml KH2PO4
20ml trace

x3 per week

Thanks a lot for the reply!

Yes, this is for the 55 gallon.

So, I need to mix 40 grams potassium nitrate with 500 ml of water?
Mix 15 grams of potassium phosphate with 500 ml of water?
Mix 25 grams of trace with 500 ml of water?

Then I dose:

20ml KNO3
5ml KH2PO4
20ml trace

x3 per week
Would it be okay for me to dose them on the same day then? What days should I dose them and do I need to do a 50% water change weekly?

Would the 500 ml of water water last an entire month?

I have RO water, should I use that? OR should I was tap water WITH dechlorinater added?

Thanks a lot!

EDIT: I was looking at one of your planted threads and you mixed both the potassium nitrate and potassium phosphate into one container, could you explain how I could do this for my tank?

Dose the macro on one day and the CSM+B the next, and then on the seventh day do a 50% water change to remove and plant biofilms etc that may cause algae.

It is fine to add both the KNO3 and KH2PO4 together, but don't add the traces to that mixture as it will break the chelators down, which will leave some nutrient forms un available to plants.

before mixing, you will need to adjust the amounts to make sure the plants receive the same amount of nutrients, if I were you I would add the salts to 600ml's of water, as it is dividable by twelve, so each batch will last 4 weeks, this is how I do it anyway, do what ever is easier for you.

Thanks for the reply truck!

I am still a bit confused? Sorry. Salts, is this KNO3 and KH2PO4?

So, what amounts should I add to 600 ml of water?

If I do it this way, I would then put the 600 ml of water together to form a total batch of 1200 ml of KNO3 and KH2PO4 in one container?

Then I would have a separate container of CSM+B mixed with 600 ml of water?

Thanks!

So I could do something like this then?

Monday - KNO3 and KH2PO4
Tuesday -CSM+B
Wednesday - KNO3 and KH2PO4
Thursday -CSM+B
Friday - 50% water change (This is the only day I can do this)
Saturday - KNO3 and KH2PO4
Sunday - CSM+B

-FHM

yeah that sounds fine, if I were you I would add

40 grams of KNO3 and 3 grams of KH2PO4 per 300ml is what I would dose, I dose the equivalent, on my 125 litre.

I dose the traces using a dosing spoon, I dose 1/8 teaspoon per 30 gallons so 3/16 teaspoon should do it for your tank.

Okay, I made a smaller amount of CSM+B.

I mixed 5 grams with 100 ml of water, and I cannot get all the CSM+B to dissolve into the water? What should I do?

Also, I think I messed up the other two. I got 1000 ml of water and mixed in 40 grams of potassium nitrate and 15 grams of potassium phosphate into one container, now how much do I dose each time I dose? Or, did I screw up? Should I start over?

Thanks!

-FHM

I would start over personally, 40 grams of KNO3 and 3 grams of KH2PO4 into 300mls

warming the water will help the powders dissolve, as will shaking

So if I mix 40 grams of KNO3 and 3 grams of KH2PO4 into 300mls, can I put these into the same container?

EDIT: Then how much would I dose from this combined container?

Thanks, Truck!

-FHM

yeah, into the same container, but make sure that you add both the KNO3 and KH2PO4 into only 300ml's of water. dose 25ml every other day, a 300ml mixture of this will last 4 weeks.

make sure you Don't add the KNO3 to 300mls and KH2PO4 to 300mls because you'll end up with 600mls, I hope that avoids confusion

Okay, I think I got it now!

Man, I have no idea why I cannot get my head around this!

I can do integrals in calc, but this! Man!

Thanks again truck!
